IATSE, Teamsters Reach Deal with AMPTP

Five weeks after beginning talks with the AMPTP, a consortium of below-the-line unions including IATSE locals and Teamsters Local 399 has reached tentative agreement on a new three-year master contract, Variety reports. The deal comes four months before the current contracts were set to expire on July 31, 2012.

For the first time, union members will have to contribute to health plan coverage, but only in the case of members with dependents. A key issue in the negotiations was how to cover an expected $400 million shortfall in pension and health plans.

The new deal includes 2% wage increases each year.

Further details from The Hollywood Reporter, which notes that individual contracts with a number of crafts remain to be finalized.
