As reported by Backstage:
Louisiana may be the greatest actor among the 50 United States. In countless films and television shows, the state has portrayed Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado, the jungles of South America, London, and even Los Angeles.
Current and upcoming feature films shooting in the state include Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained,” the sci-fi adaptation “Ender’s Game,” and Dito Montiel’s “Empire State,” a heist flick set in New York City.
Louisiana film officials attribute the boom to an aggressive tax-credit program. The article adds:
News has been good as well for the region’s steadily increasing number of union members. A SAG-AFTRA local chapter, shared with Mississippi, has recently been established in New Orleans. The new local is a direct result of the union merger, according to SAG-AFTRA South Region Executive Jason Tomlinson. His New Orleans-based position was created in 2007.
The film official is quoted as saying that Louisiana ranks only behind New York and Los Angeles as a production hub in the U.S.
Love the fact that they are keeping it in America
I posted some questions on the contact us space which has not been visited since April. Hope I get a reply somewhere
Kathy, I asked who you were talking about? and I asked if this is really you posting.
Can you please clarify who has been “banned” other than the obvious person who is repeatedly banned from most sites?
Again, it would be helpful to know if SAGWATCH admin is banning folks who simply “disagree” with others. Point it out, if you can. Because I haven’t seen it. We’ve had multiple back and forths on this site with those who disagree WITHOUT one of them being “banned” (except for one serial threat maker bottom feeder–who was not banned here or anywhere else for “disagreeing”)
I have to question if this post is truly from Kathy Joosten?

Ed. Comment: For the record, from all appearances the post genuinely came from Kathy.
Every blog/website has banned SOME people. Some threaten violence. Some use obscene language repeatedly. Some simply clog up discussions purposely.
ditto, Les. Louisiana got the short end of government help (Katrina) and deserves a bump.
It’s great to hear that SAG-AFTRA is gaining strength in Louisiana; my understanding is that it’s a right-to-work (for less) state, which means that unions have significantly less power there… a growing presence can only mean that the performers there are standing together, and that’s great to see!
I now have 4 good friends who’ve moved to N’awlins, lock, stock and barrel. 2 actors, 2 crew (3 with families)… all 4 working more, and more steadily, than they have in years. And they love the area’s “richness” (a word they all use).
As Marissa said, it’s nice to see the great karma they’re getting after all the bad joojoo!!
most of those I know are keeping put and waiting out the lack of work,,
